EXTRA CREDIT: How many Cabinet positions are in the Executive Branch today? List THREE that did not exist under Washington's presidency. One of the Cabinet positions that was created under Washington does not exist today - which one is it, and what Cabinet position replaced it? Email me your response ([email protected])
Documentary: History Channel - The Presidents. The documentary takes a look at each President: the personalities, the issues, and the impact on history. We'll watch some in class, especially the one on Washington.

EXTRA CREDIT: Research the events that led up to the Hamilton-Burr duel and the duel itself. Who was involved? What was the issue? What happened?
Lewis & Clark Expedition
1.) Ken Burns' Lewis and Clark: The Journey of the Corps of Discovery (PBS, 4 hours) - This documentary gets into great detail about the most famous American expedition. Many of the scenes are shot on location where the Corps of Discovery made their way west. The scenery of the west alone is enough of a reason to watch.
Manifest Destiny
1.) California Gold Rush: An Interactive Adventure - The book puts readers into the action as they have to make choices throughout the book to
determine how they'll get to California and what they'll do once they get there. The book includes two different story paths with up to 14 different endings possible.
2.) Westward Expansion: An Interactive Adventure - The book puts readers into the action as they choose the character to follow: A Civil War
veteran, a Sioux warrior, or a traveler on the Oregon Trail. With three possible paths to take, there are almost twenty different endings
possible.
1.) American Experience: The Donner Party (PBS, 90 minutes) - This documentary covers the infamous journey of the Donner-Reed Party as it
tries to makes it's way to California in 1846. The results are catastrophic as part of the group get trapped in the Sierra Nevada mountains
and is faced with horrible decisions.
- Try to fill in a blank map of the United States one state at a time...without borders!
